The CS-A Sensocar column strain gauge is a link in a structure capable of determining the weight of a truck or wagon on the railway track. The Sensocar load cell was developed in Spain and is mass produced 50 km from Barcelona. There are 9 modifications of this series, but products with a weight limit of 30 and 40 thousand kg are popular.
Technical datasheet
The CS-A Sensocar load cell is included in weighing kits that are installed on scales with a large mass measurement range. The accuracy of the vehicle mass measurements is C5. We recommend using these sensors for truck scales with a total weight limit of 100 tons. The use of sensors in weighing wagons is confirmed by tests in which it is possible to weigh a wagon or a pair of wagons with a total weight of 150 tons, which are distributed over several platforms.
The CS-A model receives information from the compression strain gauge and is converted into an analog signal. Next, the analog signals are averaged across all sensors and transmitted to a common weighing terminal, which converts the analog signals from the sensors into the final weighing result. The sensor can be used for automotive platform (4 or 6 sensors). It is allowed to use 4 sensors in carriage platforms. The number of automobile and carriage weighing platforms varies depending on the type of scales being manufactured.

The CS-A version is available in several technological modifications. The difference between each performance comes down to the maximum weighing limit. The CS-A series of sensors includes 9 weight modifications, designed for weighing in tons: up to 10 tons; up to 15 tons; up to 20 tons; up to 25 tons; up to 30 tons; up to 35 tons; up to 40 tons; up to 50 tons; up to 100 tons.
All elements of the external and internal structure are made of stainless steel alloy, which is cast in a special mold. This type of manufacturing of the load cell housing provides equipment protection level IP69. No moisture is allowed to enter the housing; dust settles on the outer covering and does not increase the error during weighing.
A resistor is responsible for measuring the pressure of the vehicle mass and converting it into actual weight. The actual pressure from the weighing platform is determined by the compression level of the strain gauge. Next, based on the proportion of compression of the resistor, the level of pressure from the weight of the car or railway transport that drove onto the platforms is calculated. After this, each of the set of sensors transmits its own characteristics via an analog channel to the control panel, where all signals are processed, summed up and output as a final result - the weight of the car or carriage.
